Teacher: Miss Worthington

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Fitchett

Year 3 is an exciting time in your child’s education as they make the transition to Key Stage 2. We aim to provide cross-curricular learning opportunities based around our topics.

We hope that you will find the information on our class page useful. Should you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to myself or Mrs Fitchett at the end of the day or via Class Dojo. Alternatively, please contact the office to arrange a mutually convenient time to speak face-to-face or on the telephone.

Year 3 information:

PE is on Monday and Wednesday.

Spelling tests take place on Friday.

Homework is due on Thursday.

How to help your child:

Reading : Please try to read with your child as much as possible. All children have a school reading book at an appropriate level for them. 15-20 minutes per day of listening to your child read will benefit their fluency skills and help them to become an independent reader.

Spellings: All children have weekly spellings which should be practised each day.

Homework: The children are given a half termly homework challenges that should be completed one per week until the end of the half term. There are 10 activities for the children to choose from and it is expected that they complete at least 7 over Autumn 1. Homework is due on Thursdays each week. If your child has any difficulty completing particular tasks, please make a note and we will go over these with them.

Multiplication and division facts: In preparation for the multiplication tables check at the end of Year 4, your child should be practising their multiplication and division facts regularly. All children have access to Time Table Rockstars (TTRS) which can be accessed at home. There are regular battles posted to TTRS with an incentive of extra free time during their school day. https://ttrockstars.com/

Book bags: Please ensure that your child brings their reading book, reading record and spelling practice book in their book bag everyday.

PE kit – Please ensure that your child has both an indoor and outdoor PE kit in school. Our indoor PE session in the first Autumn term will be on a Monday morning and the children have a games session with our sports coach on a Wednesday afternoon.
